Sight Depth Simulator

We defined “Openness” which means people often feel spacious sense about the space through the sight. Openness is calculated by 3D isovist which is incorporated influence of lighting effect. This calculate method is calibrated by previous study by coworker and my professor.

The first building we tested is a medium-sized office in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The facade of this building is its structure, whose pillars and beams become thinner toward the top. ( i.e. it was designed to have a wider view on the upper floors. ) In this experiment, the coefficient for calibration was corrected by comparing the difference between sense of the visibility of each floor that humans feel about each spaces and the Visibility value in the 3D model.

This project is based on my professor’s study “Sight Depth Illusion with Perforated Plane - Evaluate in Mixed Reality with Head Mounted Display” and more.
